PU's Enactus team joins 'Lions Club Chandigarh Central' in World's Largest E-Waste Collection Drive 'Dump and Donate'

Chandigarh : 'A student organization dedicated to bring a change in the society through its continuous and conscious efforts, the Enactus team of Panjab University has been working dedicatedly for the last 12 years to provide sustainable solutions to social issues affecting the world around us' said Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor, Enactus Team.

Enactus team joins hands with Lions Club Chandigarh Central in the world's largest e-waste collection drive 'Dump and Donate', organized by Lions Club Pan India in partnership with Hindustan E-Waste Ltd. (HEW), Primus Partners and the National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA) Management Pvt Ltd on 13th January 2023, told Sanya Prabhakar, Head of Content, Enactus Team. Prof. Kapoor said that under this program old equipments are collected and recycled and a tree is planted in lieu of the donation.

Enactus team along with Lion Satish Bhaskar, President, Lions Club and Lion Sanjeev Gupta, E-waste Project Coordinator & District Chairperson Information Technology Displayed posters at Student Centre, Health Centre, AC Joshi Library and UIET, Panjab University to create awareness about E-waste and explains the process of donating waste and e-waste, said Lisa Phogat, Head of Finance, Team Enactus.

To promote this campaign, the event was led by Professor Jagtar Singh, Dean Student Welfare; Dr. Naresh Kumar, Associate Dean, Student Welfare; Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer; Prof. JK Goswami, Director, UIET; Dr. Vishal, UIET; Dr. Jeevesh Bansal, Deputy Librarian and; Dr. Suman Sumi, Assistant Librarian, AC Joshi Library and; staff from DSW Office, Main Library, Health Center and UIET.

Team Enactus students participated with enthusiasm, took the initiative and acknowledged the hazardous effects of e-waste and educated people on how to dispose of it with minimal environmental impact, said Chetan Raikwar, Head of Operations.

Project Head Samarth Minocha informed that through this campaign the team reached out to students, teaching and non-teaching staff and residents of Panjab University and raised awareness about e-waste and its harmful effects on the environment. This campaign made people aware about their duties towards nature.

Punjab University Prof. Jagtar and other high officials highly appreciated this initiative. As the saying goes, "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much", which is what the Enactus team proved through teamwork, said PR Head Tushar Goyal. The high energy level of the youth inspired every soul.
