Chandigarh : The IDCF fortnight is being observed from 5th June to 17thJune, 2023 in UT Chandigarh to ensure zero deaths due to childhood diarrhoea as per the direction of MoHFW. Shri Yashpal Garg, Secretary Health held a meeting of the Steering committee which was attended by Dr. Suman Singh Director Health and Family Welfare, Chandigarh Administration, Dr. V.K. Nagpal, Medical Superintendent, GMSH 16, Dr. Vandana Mohan, DFWO Chandigarh and Officers/ Officials from Department of RBSK/RKSK, IDSP, Social welfare and Department of Paediatric PGIMER and GMSH-16
Shri Yashpal Garg at the onset stated that although zero death due to childhood diarrhoea was reported in UT Chandigarh in the last year but we all need to take all necessary measures to maintain same this year also.
Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health & Family Welfare, Chandigarh Administration ensured that prepositioning of ORS will be focused to reach the vulnerable population such as migrants, street children, brick kilns, etc. by the mobile health teams and the households with under 5 children in relocated colonies and sub urban areas. Demonstration of hand washing technique will be done by RBSK doctors and field functionaries at Schools, Anganwadis centers, Health & Wellness Centers and various outreach sessions. Mobile health teams will visit to disseminate information regarding diarrhoea control. Distribution of pamphlets will also be done to carry home the messages of diarrhoea control. Audio announcement will be conducted through various FM Channels and Doordarshan for creating mass awareness.Cleaning of water tank in health facilities will be undertaken.
Dr. Vandana Mohan, DFWO Chandigarh Administration said we will take all the preventive measures which will eventually help in achieving our goal of zero child deaths due to diarrhoea.
