Press Release: New Delhi, June 17, 2026 — Lotus Petal Foundation has launched Teach Live, a live interactive online remedial learning programme designed to provide structured academic support to children who struggle to keep pace with classroom learning.
Currently in its pilot phase, the programme is benefiting 30 students across two states — Haryana and Delhi — and is catering to children in Grades 3 to 8, between the ages of 7 and 14. The foundation has announced plans to expand the initiative across India. The programme addresses a deeply rooted challenge in India's education landscape. Despite near-universal school enrolment, millions of children continue to fall behind in foundational learning. A significant contributing factor is the absence of academic support at home — many children come from families where parents themselves have had limited access to formal education. Through live, after-school classes conducted by qualified teachers, Teach Live delivers personalized remedial education to students from underserved communities. Unlike pre-recorded content or automated tools, the programme prioritizes real-time teacher-student engagement, enabling educators to identify learning gaps, answer questions, and provide targeted guidance.
The launch is timely. A recent report by NITI Aayog flagged serious systemic concerns within India's education infrastructure, including over one million teacher vacancies, pupil-teacher ratios as high as 47:1 in some regions, and more than one lakh schools being run by a single teacher. Kushal Raj Chakravorty, Founder and Managing Trustee of Lotus Petal Foundation, underlined the intent behind the initiative.
"Being present in a classroom does not automatically translate into learning. Many children need additional support, encouragement, and explanation to truly understand concepts. Teach Live was created to ensure that every child has access to a teacher who can guide them, regardless of their circumstances," he said.
The foundation is actively inviting individuals, institutions, and organizations to partner in scaling the programme and expanding equitable learning opportunities for children across the country.
