Ottawa – July 1, 2025 – Prime Minister Mark Carney marked Canada Day with a message highlighting the country’s enduring strength through unity, and calling on Canadians to face today’s global and domestic challenges together.

Reflecting on Canada’s 158th anniversary, Carney honoured the founding of Confederation and acknowledged the deep-rooted presence of Indigenous Peoples. He emphasized the importance of a renewed partnership with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities in shaping Canada’s future.

“Canada has always stepped up in moments of crisis,” the Prime Minister said, citing historic moments from Vimy Ridge to 9/11. “Today, we face new tests – from a global trade crisis to threats against democracy.”

Carney laid out a bold vision for a more connected and resilient Canadian economy, fueled by homegrown energy, technology, and talent. He also committed to rebuilding and reinvesting in Canada’s Armed Forces, stating: “Canadian leadership is defined not only by the strength of our values, but also by the value of our strength.”

The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming Canada’s role in a divided world: “This is the greatest nation on earth. Our destiny is to make it greater still – not by what we say, but by what we do.”

Happy Canada Day.
