Karandeep-Mississauga, ON | May 15, 2025 – A Sikh man was shot and killed in broad daylight outside his office in Mississauga on Wednesday. This seems like a planned attack that has shocked the South Asian business community in the Greater Toronto Area.
The man was Harjeet Singh Dhadda, known in trucking safety and insurance. The shooting took place near Tranmere Drive and Telford Way at about 11:53 a.m., as Peel Regional Police said. He died on the spot. He came from Bazpur, Uttarakhand, India, and made Mississauga his home. He was seen as a well-known and respected man in Ontario’s transport and rules field.
Reports say he was shot four times outside his office. No one has been caught yet, and the reason for the attack is still being looked into.
“The homicide unit is on the case. We ask anyone who saw something or has video from the area to come forward,” Peel Police wrote in a note.
A strong police force is still in the area as officers search for clues and proof. This case adds to fears of threats, extortion, and violence against South Asian business owners in the area.
This is not the first time this has happened. Earlier this year, another Punjabi Youth who was the owner of a trucking firm and vape shop in Brampton was shot dead outside his store. Though these incidents can't be linked yet but surely raise worries in the community, especially among those in high-risk jobs like logistics, retail, and insurance.
Community leaders and groups are pushing cops to act fast to fix what they see as a bad trend of strong threats aimed at successful immigrants in the GTA.
