Third birth centenary of Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgaria celebrated with Panthic grandeur

During the centenary congregation organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of the 18th century Sikh General Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, several speakers emphasized the need for Panthic unity. The congregation was held at the Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, Amritsar, which was participated by a large number of Sangat including prominent personalities of the Sikh community.

SGPC passes budget of Rs 1138.14 crore for 2023-24, amid resonance of Sikh slogan of high spirit

The annual budget of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the financial year 2023-24 has been passed during the general meeting held at Teja Singh Samari Hall in Amritsar today. In the general meeting held in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, SGPC General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal presented a budget of Rs 1138.14 crore, which was passed by the SGPC members amid resonance of Sikh slogan of high spirit – Bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal.

NGO holds Community Kitchen

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) - Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation organised a community kitchen, or bhandara, here. This was the Foundation's 51st bhandara and a Delhi based Industrialist family provided the funds for the same. To support the noble cause, Shyam Kumar Maheshwari who is an Industrialist from Delhi and his wife Abha Maheshwari came forward and extended financial support for the 'Sarvajanik Bhandara' or Community Kitchen.

Work of fitting golden plates at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib starts

As part of the maintenance sewa (voluntary service) of golden plates and minakari (inset work of painting) at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, the central religious place of the Sikh community, golden plates were refitted inside the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine today. The sewa was handed over by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (GNNSJ), Birmingham, UK, which carried out the necessary repair work.

The President of India Droupadi Murmu today paid obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib in Amritsar. She offered Karah Prasad (Holy Communion) and listened to Gurbani Kirtan for a while. On the occasion of paying obeisance at Sri Harmandar Sahib, the President was honoured with Patasa Prasad (Holy Communion) and a garland of flowers. She also went to Langar Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, sat in the pangat (queue) and had langar (food from the community kitchen).

Community Kitchen Organized

To help the underprivileged sections of the society, a Community Kitchen or Bhandara, was organized by Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation. The arrangements for successful conduct of the Bhandara were handled by the Care Taker Car Service Center. Sanjeev Dewan and Sandeep Dewan, the founders of Care Taker, themselves distributed food to the labourers and needy people.
