Women's Solidarity Celebration brings together Diverse Cultures at CUF's event in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The Courtesy Urban Festival (CUF) organized a Women's Solidarity Celebration on the occasion of International Women's Day. The event was held at the picturesque Tourism Centre in Sector-1, Chandigarh, and aimed to promote mutual understanding and camaraderie among women from different regions of the country.

The celebration brought together women from Chandigarh, along with residents from Manipur, Arunachal, West Bengal (BSS group), and Assam, who displayed their culture through various stalls and demonstrations. Additionally, the multifaceted participants of Vridhi Education Social Welfare Jagatpura and the fund-raising stall of Inner Wheel Club Chandigarh Harmony and IWC Chandigarh Harmony, as well as members of Bangiya Sanskriti Sammelan, participated in the cultural program.

The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest of Honor, Mrs. Shobha Kausar, a famous dancer, and the Special Guest, Dr. Sadbhavna Pandit, SMO, GMSH 16. The Don Bosco Navjeevan Society GK core team members inaugurated the Anemia-Mukt-Chandigarh campaign.

Several women were awarded on this occasion by Chief Guest Mayor Anup Gupta. Some of the awardees were Ms. Gayatri Devi (Drishti, Self Help Group), Ms. Sharda Rani (Patron, SHG), Ms. Ritu Goyal (Finance Management Tinner), Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Program Coordinator DB Tech, and Dr. Sadbhavana (I/C Dept of Paediatrics, GMSH 16).

More than 40 women self-help groups from village Faidaan, Ramdarbar Colony, New Indira Colony, and Shahpur Colony, supported by Don Bosco and Municipal Corporation, participated in the program. Furthermore, around 20 senior citizens from the Gray Shades group presented a lively skit on finding purpose and meaningful engagement after retirement.

The Organization Secretary, Shilpa Das, expressed that their goal is to develop a harmonious culture that represents the true soul of Chandigarh city. She added that there is still a long way to go in introducing Chandigarhians to the various colors of their own city. However, their organization will continue to take meaningful steps towards this goal.
